I was recently looking into gem crafting, and saw the specialty gems that can be crafted (such as the Critical Hit + Gem). I thought about buying the recipe, and to craft them. The thing is that they are prohibitively expensive. Not only do they cost 10 credits to unlock the recipe, but each gem costs a credit to make.
Now, I understand that you want to encourage people to donate to the game. By making these items cost a credit to make, people will donate more often and get credits. There is nothing wrong with that. However, the cost of these gems far outweigh the gains that you would get from the gems. It makes the items so impractical that they become worthless, and might as well not be in the game.
If you consider the cost of a credit and the gem fragments required to make a Critical Hit + gem, it costs roughly 3 million gold to get a gem that improves your critical hit rate by .10%. If you upgrade the critical hit mythril skill, the last upgrade from 99.8% to 100% costs 2500 mythril. If mythril costs 3000 gold each, then it costs 7.5 million gold to get that last .20%... or it only costs 3.75 million gold for .10%. Why should anyone buy Critical Hit + gems, if upgrading the mythril skill will be cheaper for anything below rank 400/500? And after that point, why would people invest in a gem that they'll lose when upgrading to the next tier (or have to spend a fortune to remove from their old tier gear) instead of just putting it in the mithril skill (which will always be with you once you buy it)? (Note: cost of gem was calculated using opportunity cost. Because I am a nerd)
Please consider removing the credit cost when crafting items, or at the least, for crafting gems. The cost of these gems far outweigh the gains that you would get from the gems. It makes the gems so impractical that they become worthless, and might as well not be in the game.
