The idea here is to allow people who want to operate their own shop the option to do just that. It would upgrade the same as the other buildings with benefits tied to each of those levels. Shops would be accessed through a Merchant's Directory link. Anything tied to a Tier can only be sold in a shop of equal level.
Features
Merchant Level
As with the other professions there would be a leveling component as well. In order to upgrade the shop the merchant would need to fulfill both the Character Level requirement and the Merchant Level requirement. The Character Level must be high enough to equip the equivalent tier that the shop can sell (as with the other professions). The Merchant Level must be maxed for the current tier before the next can upgrade can be performed (i.e. Shop Level 2, with Character Level 21 and Merchant Level 20, allows for Shop to be upgraded to level 3).
To gain Merchant Levels the merchant must allocated a percentage of their sales revenue towards a Reserve Fund (they set the percentage themselves at their Shop). As they reach each increment (10% of the total) they gain a level. Once the Reserve Fund target is reached they are eligible to upgrade their shop (they still must meet the other requirements and have the required resources, gold, mith and credits).
The Reserve Fund Total increases with each level, does not allow for a surplus to be carried over into the next level, and the percentage reverts to 0% once the Reserve Fund target is reached.
That's all I've got so far.

Features
- For each level of the shop the merchant can list 10 items for sale in the shop (does not count towards the existing market limits)
- At level 1 the merchant can also list Metal Scraps, Gem Fragments, Mithril and Credits.
- At level 1 the merchant has access to a Sales/Purchases Log (purchases are logged once they are unlocked at Level 5 with Buy Price)
- At level 2 the merchant can also list All Resources.
- Starting at level 2, and for every even level after that, the merchant unlocks a single (not one per category) Premium Market listing in the open market. Premium Market listings appear at the top of the first page in the item category (sorted by price in comparison to other Premium Market listings).
- At Level 3 the merchant unlocks a Clan Discount and can set a discount rate for their own clan (set as a percentage of the total). Every member of their clan that visits the shop will see both the listed price and their discounted price.
- Starting at level 3, and for every odd level after that, the merchant unlocks a Premium Customer slot. This allows the merchant (if they choose) to assign a player to automatically get a discount at their shop (set as a percentage of the total). The customer sees both the listed price and their discounted price.
- Starting at level 4, and for every level after that, the merchant unlocks a Blacklisted slot. This allows players to refuse service to a player preventing them from accessing their shop at all.
- Starting at level 5, and for every level after that, the merchant unlocks the option to set a Buy Item/Resource for a specific item or specific quantity of a resource (purchases of this type are recorded in the Sales/Purchases Log).
- Starting at level 6, and for every even level after that, the merchant unlocks a slot where they can Set Selling Price for a specified quantity of Metal Scraps, Gem Fragments, Mithril, Credits, Trade Skill Resources or Trade Skill Reagents. These can then be purchased at quantities of the buyers choosing (for as long as the quantity remains). Once the supply is depleted the listing must be reset by the merchant.
- Starting at level 7, and for every odd level after that, the merchant unlocks a slot where they can Set Buying Price for a specified quantity of Metal Scraps, Gem Fragments, Mithril, Credits, Trade Skill Resources or Trade Skill Reagents. These can then be sold to the shop at quantities of the sellers choosing (until the full total is purchased or the merchant runs out of gold). Once the buy order is fulfilled the listing must be reset by the merchant.
