I think a good idea would be to be able to purchase a bonus to your attributes that would not factor into your limit like maybe a small percentage of your current attribute or even a set amount. For example 50 points for +25 to health, attack and defence or 0.25% to accuracy and evasion.
Mhmm idk my idea would be to keep reward points only for custom stuff, nothing in game to make u stronger or to be used to effect the game at all, keep it custom names, colors, maybe profile or something like that, that be pretty cool.
Personal Doubles and Triples along with more expensive clan Doubles and Triples. Set ranks along with a custom rank being the most expensive. Having conversion ratios for RP to Gold, Mithril and Credits. Increase equipment globals, resource globals and maybe add an XP global. Custom gems that will fit on ALL equipment and can be upgraded with combined Mithril and Gem Fragments.
Well as far as costs, I would need to see what some mid and high level players with no refs, or very few, have for referral points. Some of these suggested costs seem a bit off. Some players with high activity and no referrals will quite possibly never see 500+ RP .
I like most of the ideas posted above, heres a few more options.
Permanent Bonuses: Raise 1 skill limit by 1 - giving you the ability to put 6 skill points into a skill. You couldn't pick the same skill twice. An estimated cost for this could be: First raise: 1 RP 2nd: 10 RP 3rd: 100 RP 4th 1000 RP and so on. This would allow everyone to pick a couple they could specialize in and allow high refs to get one or maybe 2 more if they really wanted to, but most likely just 1 extra.
Another permanent bonus would create a similar rank to renown, but it could only be purchased with RP's. Instead of just a straight #, you could have named ranks. These ranks would give different bonuses that would apply to whoever currently owned the rank. A few possible ranks: (generic names) King Slayer - 5% bonus to base XP while active Food/Wood/Etc King - 5% bonus to base resources gained for that particular TS. Gold/Mithril/Frag/Shard/Etc King - 5% bonus to all related drops of that item.
and then you can add other specialty ranks from there, both skill tree based and profession based and other stuff too!
The basic mechanic of the Rank would be a cost of 1 RP. The cost goes up by 1 for each subsequent purchase of that Rank by someone else. There is a base formula of (Rank cost / 10) rounded up = # of days before that Rank is available for purchase again by someone else. If no one else purchases the Rank, you keep it and the bonus until they do, no one else can just buy it during the protected time given by the formula.
You cannot have more than one Rank at a time.
Misc bonuses: Referral Pandora's Box (needs better name) - No bad effects. Cannot give weapons/armor. Can give personal/clan/global double/triple. Can give up to 25% stat boost (temporary). Can give credits. Can give mithril. Can give gold. Can give 1 random jewel of current tier (small chance for jewel to be +1 to +3?). Can give 10-25% experience needed to level (base % of xp needed, not current % of xp needed). Can give 1 skill point (RARE). Can give 1-5 autos. Can give 5-20% of kills/items needed for current quest (base, not current. if total takes you over what is needed, it just finished the quest, no carryover). Can give you .1 reduction in both Action Timer's (Ultra Rare, max .5 reduction total)
Hmm.. Kind of new to the game, but my understanding is that RP is a finite thing. You get it only from accomplishments, and you will obtain these points less frequently the longer you play (as levels become increasingly more difficult to obtain). If I'm wrong, kindly correct me.
But with that understanding, i would hope whatever i could purchase with them is permanent. Items, Attribute Enhancements, Titles.. Even professions, skills, or entire classes.
An actual idea? Add a new type of equipment (Accessory, ring, trinket, whatever..). That new type of equipment can only be purchased with RP. These pieces of equipment vary from different attribute boosts (+%Health, +%Attack, etc.) (% because it will always be usefull, whereas +10 Attack might seem less noticeable as you grow stronger), to unique effects like -0.5s wait time in between tradeskill attempts. Many things that could be done with them, as long as its impactfull, and permanent, im fine with it all.
15 RP makes 1 Dropped Pandoras Box tradeable on the market.(basicly a listing fee) 150 RP (one time fee) allows a player to purchase market listed Pandoras Boxes. 150 RP (one time fee) allows a player to list any Dropped Pandoras Boxes they get (without having to pay the 15 RP listing fee each time)
Personal and clan doubles are a very good idea for Reward Points usage, but I also agree that some more permanent boosts should be introduced as Reward Points are a very limited currency. I think there should be an option to buy extra gem slots for your weapons, buy Pandoras Boxes, and possibly buy a random box, which could give a random amount of gold/mithril/credits.
Another idea... why not keep Tradeskilling as a completely free option & add Tradeskill EXP boosts to the RP store? A total of 100% TS exp boost for 50-100 RP points per 10%... seems a good idea to me.
