So this is related to the other thread I commented in but since I am suggesting something a bit different than OP I figured I'd make my own thread. You probably already know what I mean but just in case here is some suggested sample usage.
> /who Try including a search string, for example "/who stabzs".
> /who dr Too many results, try refining your search.
> /who dra Too many results, try refining your search.
> /who draa Draakh, Myrddraal, vuurdraak249, Draakas, DrindrAAnSLv, DraaaaaayVen, draavon
> /who draavon draavon <Scrambled> B:116 | H:852 | W:0 | M:138 | Q:29 | Joined: 6/30/2014 | Online: now | Avg. KpD: 5,181 | Avg. TSpD: 1,556
The final example is also what would be displayed when you shift-click a user's name in chat.

I'm not necessarily opposed to wildcard searches (and they're really the only way to deal with it if this were a chat command) but I'm not sure that this is necessarily any better than a profile for the player. What is your thinking behind your preference for this over a profile for each player?

It just seems quicker and with relatively little data to display a whole page seems a bit overkill. I guess you could flesh it out to show gear, professions, clan donation stats, etc. which would make it more interesting. Also, though I do open a second game window sometimes to look at clan stuff, etc. while I auto, doing everything in one window is better in my view. An overlay like the mithril skills screen would be one way to do it all in one window if you went that route.
As for the wildcard search, that feature would be secondary in my mind to having it just display info on the name as typed. I just saw it implemented in the mail section so figured I'd include it here.

The difference between Secure Message/Trade and this is that a chat implementation would have to either wildcard everything (false positives) or autopopulate, which means that it would have to carefully look for that particular command (expensive and wasteful). Alternatively, Secure Message/Trade has a very specific autopopulation feature, so it's less wasteful. I'm leaning towards a modal-style interface where additional information about a player could be displayed. This would be not only more useful, but make it expandable down the road as well, whereas a chat feature would be much more limited. So, with that in mind, what type of information would be ideal to see on a profile? The more specific the better

Okay, that works for me.
The info that I suggested in my final example would be my first thought, personally I'd be happy with just that for the initial implementation.
name, clan, battle level, each TS level, join date, last online, average kills/day, average TS/day.
Edit: if you want to bury this thread and move the discussion back to the profile page one that might be good if we're done here.

Can I just add that I think that there would be quite a lot of people who wouldn't like some of this information shared for example. I don't want people knowing my average kills/ts attempts per day or my stats. Things like clan and levels and stuff I'm ok with. With the profile idea there is more scope for the individual to be able to select what appears on their profile.

As someone who is a big advocate for privacy rights my first thought is to agree with you, though in this case I can't help but see it a bit differently due to the nature of the game. My interest here is mostly vis a vis recruiting for what it's worth, that and coordinating clan TS activities.
To me this just seems like an extension of what is already on the leaderboards. Would you object if Stabzs implemented a kills/TS per day leaderboard? Is it that it would potentially reveal "unflattering" info for those with lower numbers? To me the most "sensitive" bit of info in the game is a player's renown and that is already leaderboard data (yes, no hard dollar amount is shown but is pretty easy to take an accurate guess).

I don't think the kills/ts per day amount gives an accurate accord of how active someone is. i.e its very warped by circumstances. For example, if you didn't play at all for the first 6months of having an account but came back to the game full time, illness, work, studying, ect. My personal objection is that I don't like to share as much information with other people as possible.
I think there are more accurate ways of gleaming whether a player is active or not.
I may also be wrong, but I think stabzs has shot down the idea of having a ts/kills per day leaderboard before. He may wish to correct me on that.
So going back to what I originally said, having it customisable is my preference.

I totally agree that by itself it is not a useful indicator of activity, I think it just helps to paint a picture of someone's time in the game. I think a much better metric in terms of recruiting would be a sliding window of kills/TS per day over the last, say, 2-3 months, but that would potentially be more work for Stabzs. There's still no substitute for just talking to a potential recruit, which I always do, but admittedly I would find this info useful even if taken with a grain of salt and possibly totally overshadowed by the conversation.
I respect the want for privacy, I guess it's up to Stabzs to decide where that line is since plenty of things are already public.
