Just an idea to add a bit more customization to the game but to have a few different weapon types perhaps with hidden passives. For example: Sword - Average Stats - x% chance to parry attack (reduces or negates damage) Dagger - Weaker Damage - x% chance to double attack Gun - Weaker Damage x% chance to hit from ranged (Creature doesn't get an attack this combat round) Axe - Higher Damage - x% chance to take 1.5 damage (Higher damage with a trade off)
Just as a few ideas for more customization. Of course, this change would probably require some reworks to the GreatSword etc so it may not be worth the time. Just trying to add a bit of customization.

Customization is always fun for players and I understand the desire for that.
That said, based on how equipment is currently structured, this would be a pretty massive change at this point. The value would probably be small compared to the amount of time it would require, not to mention it would be difficult to fully grasp what the mechanic outcomes would be until it was implemented. This is really not a good candidate for implementation as it stands right now.
